Camp Kearny, California

Eddie's journal continues: "Some of the photographs I took were very interesting - showing the men of the new National Army in training; making a hit with hand grenades; showing soldiers at work as they prepared to go 'Over There' - Europe.

At Camp Kearny, San Diego, California, I photographed the Sunshine Division in training. The Commanding Officer put on a review of the Sunshine Division so that we could get both movie and still pictures to show what fine work had been done in getting this Division in shape and all ready to go over."

During his assignment at Camp Kearny, Eddie met the young film star Buster Keaton who was drafted into the army and transferred to the Signal Corps for training. It was obvious to Eddie that Pvt. Keaton didn't much like the army and liked saluting officers like Eddie Jackson even less.
